Councilmember Cox feels that the <br />persons appointed to Minnesota Wellspring Committees will accomplish <br />anyting significant for business opportunity in Minnesota. He stated <br />that Ramsey should adopt a resolution to send a letter to Minnesota <br />Wellspring indicating that the areas for action itemized in their letter <br />will never by effective unless they take a look at taxing and workman's <br />compensation and all aspects of the law that make it hard for business <br />to be established. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec - If we are going to make comments, we should be sure that <br />we understand the whole movement. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cox and seconded by Councilmember Sorteberg to <br />adopt Resolution #82-2 authorizing an investigation be performed to <br />determine whether or not it would be appropriate for the City of Ramsey. <br />to request that Wellspring Committee add "Reviewing and Improving of the <br />Tax Structure:'to Encourage New Business and Job Opportunities in <br />Minnesota" to their already established list of topical areas for action <br />described in their letter of December 23, 1981. (Please refer to <br />resolution file for Resolution #82-2). <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Sorteberg, Cox, <br />Reimann and Van Wagner. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING <br /> <br />Case #1 1982 Council. Organizational Meetin~ <br /> <br />a) Appoint Acti.ng Mayor <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Sorteberg and seconded by Councilmember <br />Cox to appoint Councilmember Reimann as Acting Mayor for the <br />year 1982. <br /> <br />Motion c~rried. Voting yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Cox, <br />Sorteberg, Reimann and Van Wagner.
