i <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />November 3, 1981 <br /> <br />Mr. Charles 'Wea~ef, ~hairman <br />Metropolitan Council <br />300 Metro Square Building <br />St. Paul, MN 55101 <br /> <br />- 23 - <br /> <br />RE: Comprehensive Plan for Anoka County <br /> Metropolitan Council Referral File Number 8505-2 <br /> <br />Dear Mr. Weaver: <br /> <br />The r4etropotitan Waste Control Commission has reviewed the subject plan <br />and offers the following comments: <br /> <br />It is our understanding that Anoka County is responsible for the regulation <br />of on-site sewer systems for only those areas of its townships that are <br />located in the shoreland, floodplain, or scenic river areas and that the <br />townships themselves are responsible for the regulation of on-site sewer <br />systems in the remaining areas of the townships. It is also understood <br />that the County does not conduct routine operational inspections of existing <br />systems nor does the County license pumpers and installers, but that these <br />provisions are provided for by the local unit of government. <br /> <br />With this understanding, the Commission has no objection to the County plan <br />and will direct its comments on the specific needs for maintenance inspection <br />and licensing to the individual townships' comprehensive plans. <br /> <br />If you have any questions, please call. <br /> <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />Sincerely, ~., <br /> <br />George W.
