Stephen Schmidt:

City Attorney Goodrich stated that he and Mr. Schnelle had
met with Gunnar Isberg and showed him the area in question.
Mr. Isberg stated he could get a report back to City Council
within 30 days at a cost of $875.

Mayor Gamec - I feel the City should pay the cost of a planner
since the City is examining the possiblity of rezoning. It
is the City's decision and costs incurred arriving at that
decision should be picked up by the City.

Councilmember Van Wagner - What if more requests come in from
citizens requesting City to hire planner to examine~
possiblities of rezoning their a~ea?

Councilmember Cox - The developer needs a planner for back-up
to enforce his request.

Councilmember Sorteberg - I feel the cost should be shared
between developer and City.

Stephen Schmidt - I also have hired a planner who has just
completed comprehensive plans for 3 other cities. In his
considering of a number of factors, he has determined the
rezoning of this corner to be salesable to the Metro Council,
but time is of the essence and I would like to get this matter
back on the agenda for December.

Wes Bu~em.,' If you hire a planner, just don't look at one
corner, but at the whole spectrum.

C/November 25, 1981
Page 6
