CASE #3: STREET IMPROVEMENT PROJECT #81-20 REGARDING DRIVEWAYS AND SLOW
CHILDREN SIGNS; CASE OF MS. GEORGANN LEITSCHUH:
' ~~~- ~w. , The city's policy to tie in driveways of a maximum of one foot

i~~.~ is making those who do not get this benefit very unhappy. In
some cases, we have to do more because we have to reshape the
street which will cause a change in the driveways. Accordingly,
citizens are requesting that they receive the same break.
Also, some of the citizens are concerned about the little children

~ and the traffic that is now generated on their street after the
surfacing of it.
Council Action: Your action on this case will probably be to only
note the complaints.

CASE #4: ENGINEERING - POLICY ON PAVING DRIVEWAYS ADJACENT TO STREET IMPROVE~

I
I
I
I
I
I
I

MENT PROJECTS:

Background Information: The present policy on connecting driveways
to improved streets is to connect only those driveways which are
close to the edge of the roadway. Three to four feet has been used
as a guideline, since the current City Code does not allow place-
ment of surfaced driveways closer than three feet along an unimproved
street. However, in some cases it has been necessary to go back
over ten feet due to realignment of streets or grade changes.

a)

Several residents have questioned the above policy and will
be present at the November 25, 1981 Council meeting to dis~
cuss this policy. Council may want to revise this policy
or leave the policy as is.

b) In Ford Brook Estates, Mr. Greg Messing, 5411 - 180th Avenue~
called the contractor and was told it was the residents
responsibility to connect driveways, Therefore, he had a
contractor connect his driveway for $96. His driveway was
two to three feet back from the street and was scheduled to
be connected by the contractor. He has contacted the engi~
neer and asked for reimbursement by the City for his drive~
way.

// /~Council Action: Your action will be to grant/deny Mr. Messing's
~se~e~°~o~e~ombu~r~~rat~n~°ll°wing proposed motion is hereby
M~tio~_n~ ~ouncilmember ~__ and seconded by Councilmember
~F~~. to deny/grant reimbursement to Mr. Messing for
~ connectin~ his drivew~
Motion carried, Voting yes .
Votmng no .
