BOARD OF REVIEW
CITY OF RAMSEY
ANOKA COUNTY
STATE OF MINNESOTA

A meeting of the Board of Review for the City of Ramsey was held Tuesday,
May 17, 1983 at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W.,
Ramsey, Minnesota, 55303.

Members Present:

Mayor Thomas Gamec
Councilmember A1Sorteberg
Councilmember Gary Reimann
Councilmember Jean Schlueter
Councilmember Sue Van Wagner (arrived at 7:07 p.m.)

Also Present:

City Assessor Lester Wirz
Gordon Starkey, Anoka County Deputy Assessor

Mayor Gamec called the Board of Review meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and led
in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

Mayor Gamec then proceeded with the following cases:

Case #1: N.W. Stickney- 7956 173rd Avenue N.W.

Mr. Stickney inquired why the valuation of a one acre parcel that he owns is
so high, that he paid $50 for it and now it's valuation is $6,300.

Mr. Wirz informed Mr. Stickney that it is a one acre lot of record and is
a buildable lot.

Case #2: Bob Quanrud - 8755 168th Avenue N.W.

Bob Quanrud stated that at the time he bought his home the property adjacent
to his contained an old house and several run-down out buildings which the
builder (Ron West) promised to remove. It has been four years and the buildings
have not been removed or demolished, they are an eyesore and feel they do
decrease my property value. Presented pictures of the buildings on the adjacent
property. Mr. Quanrud inquired if the City couldn't resort to eminent domain
and demolish the buildings as it would be in the best interest of the City.
Mr. Gilbertson (partner to Ron West) has offered to bulldoze the buildings down
at no charge but he needs legal permission. The area is presenting a safety
hazard to children.

Council consensus is to have the situation reviewed by City Administrator and
placed on the May 31, 1983 Council Agenda.

Case #3: Stuart Anderson - 7701 171st Avenue N.W.

Mr. Anderson referred to tax comparison article that was published in the
Minneapolis Star and Tribune and inquired if the article was accurate, that
the valuation and taxes on his property are not what is quoted in the article.

BoR/May 17, 1983
Page I of 5
