Councilman Cox said he thought all the board members should find out about <br />this. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec said he wondered why commercial business has to contribute to <br />schools because the only ones that really benefit by the schools are the <br />homeowners. <br /> <br />County Assessor Thurston said the businessman can pass on his increased expenses, <br />but the homeowner cannot. <br /> <br />Councilman Cox asked what action was done regarding Mobil International. <br /> <br />County Assessor Thurston said he did not hear from Mr. Ernie Peterson, owner <br />of Mobil International and that nothing could be done for Mr. Dick Blomquist <br />until Mr. Peterson initiates some action. <br /> <br />Councilman Cox asked about the 1% law regarding valuation reduction. <br /> <br />County Assessor said that 1% of the total amount of the 1980 assessment is <br />$1,660,766. <br /> <br />City Assessor Wirz said that $2,182,660 is the amount, of reduction he got <br />when everything was reduced to the 1979 valuations. <br /> <br />County Assessor Thurston said if that figure is over 1% of the total market <br />value, none will be allowed. <br /> <br />Councilman Sorteberg said the present reduction is 25% too high. <br /> <br />City Assessor Wirz said there were reductions that he made before the <br />Board of Review for those who called in, but they were very small. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec questioned page 1 of the list of valuations, Parcel ~6170, <br />which listed the valuation from $12,000 to $96,000. <br /> <br />City Assessor Wirz said it should be from $12,000 to $9600. <br /> <br />County Assessor Thurston said anybody who is on record that they appeared <br />before the Board of Review can appeal their valuation. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec noted on the valuation list on page 1, Parcel ~3980 that it states <br />the valuation from $7300 to $62,800 and it should be $73,000 to $62,800. <br />He also noted on Plat 89228, Parcel #600 that it states the ~aluation from <br />$67,800 to $44,600 and it should be $67,800 to $47,500. He also noted on <br />Plat ~91040, Parcel #30 that it states the valuation from $240,000 to <br />$19,900 and it should be from $240,000 to $198,500. <br /> <br />Councilman Cox asked if the 1980 valuation should be reduced 75% <br /> <br />Councilman Sorteberg said it could be reduced at 74%. <br /> <br />County Assessor Thurston said $1,527,862 is the figure reached by reducing <br />at 70%, which would give not quite a $133,000 leeway. <br /> <br />Board of Review <br /> May 29, 1980 <br /> Page 2 <br /> <br /> <br />
