Mayor Gamec said the Council is in agreement that the figure is out of line. <br />He suggested holding off on this case until the Council hears from the others <br />before deciding. <br /> <br />Councilman Cox said there ought to be some suggestions made to the State <br />Legislature. He suggested the Council discuss this issue at a later council <br />meeting. <br /> <br />City Administrator Schnelle suggested putting the estimated market values back <br />where they were. <br /> <br />Councilman Cox said he thought everybody should understand how serious this issue <br />is. There are a lot of people who don't even know that the valuations are <br />going up because the cards they received don't show the past year's valuations <br />so they can't be compared. He suggested the council review residential taxes <br />first and then get back to the commercial. <br /> <br />County Assessor Thurston said that taxes have not been a high consideration <br />when people relocate here so that is why the legislature isn't dealing with <br />this issue. He said if the values are lowered, they must reflect the market <br />values. The average increase on sales in 1980 is between 9% and 11%. <br /> <br />Mr. Elofson said the estimated market value of his mobile home park went up <br />too from $3700 to $5000. He said it goes up every year and he can't sell <br />mobile homes right now because of high interest rates and people can't get <br />financing. <br /> <br />County Assessor Thurston said a mobile home in the area recently sold for $6000. <br />The County does the valuations of mobile homes and mobile home parks. <br /> <br />Mr. Elofson said his biggest complaint is the i0 acres that went up $20,000. <br /> <br />Assessor Wirz said until he gets some sales that prove him wrong, he is going <br />to stick to his guns. <br /> <br />Action: <br /> <br />It was agreed that a special meeting would be held at 7:30 p.m. <br />on the 22nd of May, 1980 to review commercial and industrial <br />property with Council and Board of Review. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec said the mobile home issue would be handled at that meeting also. <br /> <br />RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY <br /> <br />Ms. Thora Moinicken, 15740 Ramsey N.W., Plat #89215, Parcel #6350 <br />She questioned the increase in estimated market value from $27,000 to <br />approximately $40,000. <br /> <br />Assessor Wirz said the increase is 13%. He said their taxes would not be going <br />up, that the taxes would be the same as last year or they could possibly go down. <br /> <br />Action: No board action. <br /> <br />Mr. Ed Hamilton, 6615 Highway 10, Plat #89324, Parcel #1400 <br />Mr. Hamilton questioned the increase in market value from $27,000 to $87,000. <br />He said his taxes doubled on his 13 acres.
