This case was tabled to give the Committee time to obtain more information and
to work on specifications.

Ca~e ~7: Update on Turn-out Gear Bid Process:

Ms. Thul reported that the Notice of Bid had been published in the official
newspaper and the bid opening would be on Tuesday, November 1, 1988 at 2:00
p.m.

Case ~9: Discussion of Appointment of Pire Chief:

Ms. Thul suggested that interviews be conducted at the next scheduled Fire
Board meeting for the selection of Fire Chief.

Mr. Bawden recommended that Mr. Axt inform members at the next meeting that
letters of intent should be submitted to Ms. Thul prior to the next scheduled
meeting.

The consensus of the Board was to schedule interviews at the next scheduled
Fire Board meeting.

Discussion - Mr. Fjerstad asked if it was necessary to obtain approval from
the Fire Board on all purchases.

Ms. Thul stated that until a Fire Chief is appointed, all requests for
purchases must be obtained from the Fire Board.

Case #8:

D. iscussion of Remodelin_~ Needs to Accommodate Fire Department:

Mr. Hartley stated that he is currently having the existing well analyzed to
determine well capacity and quality. Existing pump averages 65 gallons/minute,
maximum 125 gallons/minute. He stated that even with a new well, pumping
capabilities would be similar to existing well. Mr. Hartley stated that the
water tower is currently being built and when completed and filled (August
1989), water tanks could be quick-filled at any hydrant.

Mr. Hartley stated that if the existing well is used, plumbing will be needed
to dispense water. Also needed is a determination of where fire vehicles will
be located for easy access to water spouts.

Mr. Hartley stated that the Accounting Department is currently using the room
designated for the Fire Department. Remodeling plans are to move the employee
lunchroom downstairs to the existing room for use by all employees and members
of the Fire Department.

Mr. Hartley has requested sketches of remodeling plans. Ail remodelings of a
public facility must be approved by a registered architect.

Mr. Axt stated that OSHA requires curbing at doorway entrance.

Mr. Hartley will verify and report back to the Fire Board.
inquired as to where turn-out gear might be located.

Mr. Hartley

Discussion ensued regarding hanging the turn-out gear on the north wall-garage
side. There was a concern of security and who would have access to the room
after hours. Also, a storage room will be needed. The hose tower could be
used for that purpose.

Fire Board/October 20, 1988
