Coordination with the recent studies of Flying Cloud and Airlake airports was
questioned. C. Case noted that this has to be done on a systemwide basis to
determine priorities. These two studies will tie into the Reliever Study.
From this study, the Council wants to better coordinate airport planning and
land use compatablillty, define a baseline scenario and develop a contingency
plan. It was suggested that we define what air operations are to be
"relieved"; that this doesn't include air cargo. Additionally, it was
suggested that the Council }ook at the role of private airports in the
sensethat they may be able to fill a need that public airports can't. The
Council should also look at placing some land use controls an airports in the
rural area. As the develop|ng area moves outward, land use controls around
these airports may be needed.

VII. Next Ste~s

The next steps in the study include two phases:

Inventory:
- review of existing data
- on-site inspection
- survey: aircraft registrants
transient pilots

Forecast:

collect historic data
initiate forecast effort

The next meeting will include a discussion of the aviation chapter, a draft
issues paper and a communications plan. Future meetings may be arranged at
some of the reliever airports so members can be familiar with them.

Being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 11:45 a.m.

RELAIR/PHTRN3
