CC Regular Session <br />Meeting Date: 04/12/2016 <br />Submitted For: Grant Riemer, Engineering/Public Works <br />By: Grant Riemer, Engineering/Public Works <br />4. 10. <br />Information <br />Title <br />Adopt Resolution # 16-04-072 Accepting Bids and Awarding Contract for 2016 Inflow and Infiltration Project # <br />16-65 <br />Purpose/Background: <br />Purpose: <br />The purpose of this case is to accept bids and award a contract for the 2016 Inflow and Infiltration Project # 16-65 <br />Background: <br />The city's I/I reduction program for 2016 will consist of replacing chimney seals and adjustment rings on 37 <br />manholes in our system. These manholes have been inspected and found to allow infiltration of ground water into <br />our sanitary sewer system. We will also be rehabilitating one manhole that is showing signs of deterioration do to <br />corrosive gases. This manhole will be relined with a protective coating to correct/repair the existing corrosion. <br />Bids were opened on April 5th. A total of 5 bids were received and were checked for errors and omissions. No <br />adjustments were required. The bids received were competitive and favorable. A tabulation of the 5 bids received is <br />below. <br />CONTRACTOR <br />TOTAL <br />BID <br />Dryden Excavating <br />$72,176.00 <br />Dave Perkins Contracting Inc <br />$79,500.00 <br />Urban Companies <br />$134,820.00 <br />Pember Companies Inc <br />$142,255.00 <br />New Look Contracting Inc <br />$149,850.00 <br />For reference the engineer's estimate for the project was $77,040.00 <br />Upon acceptance of bids and award of a contract, staff will obtain a project schedule from the contractor for posting <br />on the City web site and conveying to adjacent property owners via U.S. mail. <br />All work must be completed on or before July 29th 2016. <br />Notification: <br />Advertisements for bids were published in the Anoka Union Herald and in Finance and Commerce on March 1 lth <br />and March 18th <br />Observations/Alternatives: <br />The manholes identified for receiving improvements for I/I reduction were selected by City staff based on criteria <br />including, physical inspection, previous maintenance history, project scope, and other less tangible criteria. <br />Alternative #1 - Motion adopting Resolution #16-04-072 accepting bids and awarding a contract for 2016 Inflow <br />and Infiltration Project # 16-65. <br />Alternative #2 - Motion denying adoption of Resolution #16-04-072 at this time. <br />
