He stated that he has been going to 'a series of meetings and the final decision on the sewer issue will come in January 1980. It appears at this time that the City of Ramsey will be served by the Anoka Treatment Plant. The approximate ~cost for about 200 front feet for sewer trunk charge, laterals and everything is estimated to be about $6,000. He said that the P & Z Commission should continue to operate in the same manner that they have been. He also reported that he held a meeting with the property owners along Highway 10 that will first be affected by the coming of sewer and the majority of the· people were in favor of the sewer. ~yor Gamec also reported on the Park & Recreation Commission and that they are starting to work on a bond issue for park improvements. They want to present a proposal to the general public for a vote to see if citizens are interested in improving the parks. ~hey are looking into developing a major'.p~rk in the northwest corner of the City, about 40 acres. The trend now is to get away from the small neigh- borhood parks due to the size of lots that persons in Ramsey have. They are considering the upgrading of Peltzer Park, Brookview Park (~amsey School just a little since the City doesn't own that property) and finishing Titterud park ~whichwill be a passive area with no hockey rink due to the fact that there is no room to provide parking. The Rautio land was discussed for a future recreation site. A possible swimming pool, ice arena, etc. However, reports haveindicated that money is being lost on both of these type of facilities. Mayor Gamec said the general feeling of the P & R Commission is to use the Sanitary Landfill for youth centers and take cash from the Rautio land when it develops. Mayor Gamec said there may be a new law coming which would waive the park dedication fee or donation for commercial and industrial developments. The bond issue would be for the complete development of the parks in the amount of $1,375,000. The question being~"Do the citizens of Ramsey want to pay $3 a month of taxes toward the development of the parks?" Gerald Zi~nerman commented regarding the Transportation segment of the Comp plan and said that Dexter Marston should address signalization and controlled access on Highway 10 especially at Sunfish Lake Boulevard (County Road 57) because of the amount of accidents. He feels this is critical with sewer coming to this area in the near future. Staff is directed to send a letter to the City of Anoka regarding their trans- portation plan, that it is in complete contrast with existing development, and with plats outside of their City and their projected crossing of the Run River is in conflict with County and City of Ramsey project~ (County Road 116).
