PLANNING & ZONING <br /> WORKSHOP <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The City's Planning & Zoning Commission held a workshop meeting on October <br />16, 1979, at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W., <br />Ramsey, Minnesota 55303 <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Chairman Ken Peterson <br />Kathleen Schneider <br />Ben Deemer <br />Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Adm. Schnelle <br />Engr. Raatikka <br />Street Supt. Mevissen <br /> <br />Ab sent: <br /> <br />Dexter Marston, Planning Consultant <br />Ron West <br />John Hubbard <br />Art Dunn <br /> <br />The workshop meeting is conducted by P & Z Commission to work on <br />comp. letion of the City's comprehensive plan. <br /> <br />Review of Land Uses <br /> <br />Chairman Peterson reported that Mr. Marston was to have redrawn and <br />updated the land use map to be presented tonight, however, the map <br />is not available. He exp. lained that Dexter reported that "land uses" <br />are not the same as zoning classifications. <br /> <br />Kathleen Schneider raSsed a question concerning neighborhood parks <br />and said she would like clarification on how many are needed and if <br />this plan is addressing some time in the future, how will the City <br />proceed to acquire the necessary land. She stressed the importance <br />of obtaining parkland now if these parks will materialize in the future. <br /> <br />Ben Deemer suggested that the City obtain deeds for the land for park <br />purposes from developers at the time of land development. <br /> <br />Kathleen Schneider said she would like to see a map on how much land is <br />needed for these parks, how many, etc., so that determinations can be <br />made on exactly what is needed. <br /> <br />Cerald Zimmerman commented that this is a guideline for parks and <br />would pertain to urban-type areas where you have city sidewalks, <br />that this is a plan for the future when there is sewer and water. <br /> <br />Kathleen Schneider also raised a question concerning the shopping center <br />issue. What is meant.by neighborhood shopping center? Dexter is to <br />explain this more thoroughly. <br /> <br />Attorney Cmodrich is to be contacted in regard to how the City can <br />proceed with Dark land acquisition for the neighborhood parks of the <br />future. <br /> <br />P & Z WORKSHOP <br /> 10/16/79 pg.1 <br /> <br /> <br />
