<br />Mr. Reima~n read the zcn. i~g law with regard to the proposed air-
<br />port zo~i~g reque,,~'i- am~ n~-b~e~L.

<br />The airpo~?t zonin, i~ reqve~;t was made by Mr. Dick Johnson who said
<br />there is ne<~d for sir ~o~ing which would provide a clear zone for
<br />airplanes f~r ins?ess ~r egress from the airport. The runway is
<br />2500 feet which i~ the e×isting runway° It would provide for a
<br />circular n.r~a whi~b is 5000 feet in diameter instead of the 6000
<br />feet° I't ~.;,~tenda 'to 1~2 /\w~ instead of 154th Lane. At the end
<br />of each 3¥ feet o~i_, y'o~ ~'an go 'up one foot with construction if
<br />a varianc~ is obta~ir_~ed from the local government and then it will
<br />be the re~;ponsibility' af the airport to put a light for warning
<br />purposes on top o~i7 ~;uct' ~i~ building and to maintain it. Six ac'res
<br />to the no~?tb, is a~ are~ .i.n which you cannot erect a building over
<br />20 feet l~:i_g~, without a variance from the Township. Mr. Fricke
<br />said information based o~ that furnished by property owner, Mr.
<br />Menkveld~ i~,dicated ~;o~,.e people feel we need industrial useage
<br />for thi~ la~d muc~a mor~ 't,han we need airport zoning. Mr. Barstow
<br />stated ~a, :l~; ooposa~d t~ ~irport zoning. Another statement was
<br />made that ii? we n.e~d a: ~.'~or't zoning in order for the airport to
<br />continua it~,~ busi~.~,~; '2~.~n it should be done. Mr. Johnson said
<br />('1.) it provides roy or~'~ei~'].y, planned development around the air-
<br />port. (2) .T~:~e proj~cte~l_ zoning as proposed fairly well restricts
<br />the typ~.,~ of aircraft w)d.¢h will go into the airport. (3) It is
<br />a well documented fact that when an industrial airport goes in
<br />it enhances the commun.ti!:~s tax base by developing the surround-
<br />ing indu. strial proport'~ (4) Such an airport has community uses
<br />such as ~.~ facility' for c,:~op dusting, ambulance service, or feeder
<br />service I'or the me'i;v'o ,~,r~a. (5) It retains within the Township
<br />the ability to control o~' di~.~ect future development whether on
<br />the airport or bey'o~.d ;ii<~ airport° (6) It enhances airport safety.
