We would describe the project and associated
scope of work as follows:
PROJECT DEFINITION
The project is defined as services for the demolition of the old municipal buildings located at 15153
Nowthen Blvd. The two existing buildings and parking lot are proposed to be demolished and removed
to prepare the site for future development.
PREPARE REQUEST FOR QUOTES FOR HAZARDOUS MATERIALS REMOVAL
In order to achieve the lowest overall costs, it is recommended that the demolition be completed under
two contracts. The first contract will include removal of the accessible hazardous materials and is
estimated to be below the threshold for receiving sealed bids under the Municipal Contracting Laws.
Hakanson Anderson will prepare a Request for Quotes (RFQ) for the removal of the asbestos and
miscellaneous hazardous waste as outlined in the Asbestos Survey Reports prepared by Environmental
Property Audits, Inc. The accessible materials containing asbestos that will be removed include floor
tile, vibration clothes in the HVAC system, plastic cement, and sink soundproofing. The exterior damp
proofing was also found to contain asbestos, however, because of the excavation required to remove
this material it will be included in the building demolition project. The materials that are considered
regulated waste and will be removed include thermostats, fluorescent fixtures, fire extinguishers, exit
signs, door closers, and appliances.
The Request for Quotes will require that the above items be removed by a licensed abatement
Contractor and the Contractor will be responsible for removing and disposing of all items in accordance
with State and Federal regulations.
Hakanson Anderson will prepare and distribute the Request for Quotes, answer Contractor questions,
review the quotes and provide a written recommendation for award of the contract.
