Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #2) Consider Authorization to Hire an Engineering Technician II <br /> <br />Human Resources Manager Reed reported staff has recommended that Aaron Madsen be hired as <br />Engineering Technician II at a rate of $17.31 per hour plus benefits. This hire would start in <br />May, or possibly June, as he would need to be transitioned from Ns work in the Public Works <br />Department. The Personnel Committee recmmnended approval of staff's recommendation: <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig questioned how Mr. Madsen would be eased into the new position. <br /> <br />Human Resources Manager Reed explained Mr. Madsen would continue to help out with Public <br />Works until he can be replaced. Her recommendation is that he remains at public works <br />maintenance salary when doing public works duties and at an en~neering wage when conducting <br />engineering technician duties. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig stated he appreciates the thought put into this. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Kurak, to ratify the <br />recommendation of the Personnel Committee and adopt Resolution #04-04-10I to hire Aaron <br />Madsen for the position of full-time Engineering Techn/cian II at a starting wage Of $17.31/hour, <br />plus benefits. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Cook, Kurak, Elvig, Pearson, <br />Strmra'nen, and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec asked who served on the interview committees. <br /> <br />Human Resources Reed informed the Council of the members of the interview committees. <br /> <br />Case #6: <br /> <br />Request for Amendment to an Approved Site Plan; Case of Precise <br />Metalcraft <br /> <br />P40 <br /> <br />Associate Planner Geisler reported that on August 26, 2003, Precise Metalcraft received site plan <br />approval for a 12,533 square foot manufacturing/office building on Radium Street between <br />McKinley Street and 140"~ Avenue. Precise Metalcraft is now ready to install the landscaping on <br />their site, and is seeking, an amendment to the landscaping plan previously approved by the <br />Council. Precise Metalcraft's approved landscaping plan shows a total of 25 trees and 100 <br />shrubs, which meets cun'ent landscaping requirements in the E-2 Employment District. Under <br />the new landscaping requirements for the E-2 District, a total of 21 trees and 41 shrubs would be <br />required for this project. The applicant has submitted a revised plan and shows a total of 55 <br />sku'ubs and 10 trees. Staff met with the applicant on-site to evaluate the proposed amendments <br />and review the site's landscaping potential. Staff and the applicant are in agreement on the <br />number and placement of shrubs on the site, with the exception of the north Property line. The <br />applicant is concerned that trees planted along this property line will be in standing water from <br />the drainage ditch and may cause damage'to cars in the parking lot. It is staff's opinion that there <br />is sufficient room to plant some trees along this property line.
