Civil Engineer Il Linton indicated a potential grant application for trails had been discussed. <br /> <br />Principal City Engineer Olson resp~mded staff was going to pursue the grant; however, he was <br />not confident it ecu ld be included it~ th~: current legislative session. One of the recommendations <br />from the consultani was not ~o pur:;u¢ more than one grant opportunity at a time, as a priority <br />would be selected for the City in thai: case. <br /> <br />Mayor Tom Garnet noted the tobac~:o, l?ee parks issue was on the current agenda and asked if the <br />Commission had ai-~y questions. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated Youth First w~ts working with this issue. It looked like the City of Ramsey <br />was moving ahead of the City of At ~dovcr and the City of Anoka and the City of Ramsey wanted <br />to put this in tbrcc,, at the same ,irate as the surrounding cities, which would make it easier to <br />accomplish. <br /> <br />Commissioncr ()ldo; asked if this wtuld take the form of an ordinance or a policy. <br /> <br />Mayor Ga,nec responded it would become a policy, as an ordinance would be hard to enforce <br />because of so,n(~ of thc activities wi hit} the parks. Signs would be posted; however, the goal was <br />not to "badger" people. Seminars would be conducted with the school district. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec holed the City of Cc crt Rapids had just passed an ordinance regarding this issue. <br />Copies of thc ordinance were provi~ ed, <br /> <br />Mayor Garnet disc,,tsscd current act' vities within the City of Ramsey. <br /> <br />Commissioner Shryock indicated them were strong winds the previous evening that caused a <br />large amount of du:d and blowing d, rt in the Town Center area. <br /> <br />Mayor Garnet responded part of it was dust and part of it was a fire in the Sherburne National <br />Forest, as th.c DNR was "bunting of." He added the problem was brought to the attention of the <br />DNR. <br /> <br />Principal City Enahmer Olson stat,:d :~. 25-mile-per-hour limit was placed on grading at Town <br />Center.
