Assistanl (1ommur.ity Devclopmen~ I)irector Trudgeon advised the P.A.C.T. Charter School has <br />submitted an application for m~ h~terim Use Permit to allow for temporary classrooms to be <br />placed on th¢~' school site located i~ the Ramsey Town Center. He stated due to delays in <br />beginning constru~;tion, the school building will not be completely finished and ready for <br />OCeLtpancy when sc-laool starts on St 0tember 7, 2004. <br /> <br />Assistant Commu~ity I)ew:lopmer ~ Director Trudgeon stated the school will be able to take <br />partial occup~mcy ol~a few et' the c i ass rooms and the gymnasium prior to the commencement of <br />thc school ye~tr. }lc advised elever~ t¢~rnporary trailers, housing 22 classrooms will be located in <br />the west parking lot. Thc place~ncnt of these structures within the parking lot have been <br />reviewed by lhc 1;it'c Chief [~'~r em( t'gency vehicle access and have been found to be acceptable. <br />Ifc stated the g(zhool will make sev(:ral of the temporary trailers ADA compliant. <br /> <br />Fie advised a tcml'~orary lraft]c cir~ulation plan has been submitted to the City, and the Police <br />Chict' and l:irc Chi~,:t' are in the pro,.:ess of reviewing the circulation plan for safety purposes but <br />the plan appcar.~ to be acceptable. <br /> <br />Assistant (:ommur~ity Devclopmen~ Director Trudgeon indicated that during the interim period <br />when thc tcml)orar~ classroor~s are on the site, parking for staff and students will be located on <br />the public strccls st~rrounding the school. He noted that the school will be discouraging students <br />· l'ron~ driving ~o sc}~ool during this interim period. He stated this is all predicated on the roads <br />being constructed., which should sta, t soon. <br /> <br />Public ltcarin~4 <br /> <br />Mi'. l~,osacker, I12 (h:ay Street, A,~oka, indicated he was representing the school and would <br />answer any q ucstio~s fi'om th(; l~lan,~in?~ Commission. Mr. Bosacker stated there were financing <br />delays that caused !~roblcms and pu:;he,,t the schedule back. He indicated the construction crews <br />have done a good ,i{~l* accele~rating ti te schedule, but there is not guarantee the school will be able <br />to opcn in limo. <br /> <br />Chairperson Nixt atsl<cd if thor(; wa~ a ~:ontingency plan if there are not enough roads completed <br />in time, and it' a tc~nporary lot would be a better solution. He stated some students may need to <br />drive to school, etnd wondered what ;he plan was for this. <br /> <br />Mr. Bosacker staled they do not h~..w~ a plan, but have a trend. He indicated he would guess <br />approximately 30 si udcnts nm/need to drive, and noted there concern was parking as well. <br /> <br />Chairperson Nixt s.tatcd packing is hi:-; first concern, but his second concern is making sure <br />rcstrooms arc in tziosc proximity, :md if the use of the gym during construction will be too <br />disruptive t'or clttss~'¢~oms, <br /> <br />Mr. Bosacker i~dicai:ed he does no: believe the construction will be a problem.
