Although we are not requi'red lo upgrade our system, there are future costly circumstances that we will en~ou'.qter, The most far reaching one would be the loss of support from MASYS if we run into a problem with our system. We would not loose support per se but the response would be so slow as to be worthless. I talked to Ern~' about thi~ ~nd the problem will stem from the fact that once everyone that wi~hes to be upreared has done so the people at MASYS will be working with this updmte~. If we c~]l in with a problem they will have to look up the program for our r~ystem in the:~r 7~lbrmryo They will then have to study this program to refamilarize ~hemselves wi~h our program before they will be able to answer questions. This proces~ coul~ ~'ake days depending on the problem encountered. This is a very likly cir~umst~nc~ as we are the only ones at this time that may keep our current system~ As explained pre~,ious]y the c~,st of this upgrade is $2525 and the cost of correcting our problems e:ou}d run approx $900° The changes made in the Relea:;e 4.0 update will make it faster and easier to enter items onto the computer. Mor.~ information will also be included that could not be entered on our old system, This will a]low enhanced reports that can be generated from the computer. One of the changes made, and ~}~e most important~ was to the juvenile fileo .Although there are no ~:hanges in the w,~y ~e handle the files of juveniles at this point, the changes will allow us to comply if there are any changes made in the future. This would save us the cost of a m>dSfication of the system if the requirements.~are changed.
