SOLUTI ON NO, CITY'OF CIRCLE PINES COI~TY OF ANOKA STATE OF MINNESOTA RESOLUTION OF TItE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CIT~ OF CIRCLE PINES DECLARING THE COUNCIL'S DESIRE THAT THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF MINNE- SOTA REI~TI~G TO OBSCENITY BE UPHELD. WHEREAS~ the State of Minnesota has adopted certain statutes relating tc obscenity, including Minnesota Statutes Section 617,241, which provides that it is unlawful for any pe~- son knowin§ly to 'exhibit, sell, print, offer to sell, give away, circulate, publish, distribute, or attempt to distribute any obscene book, magazine, pamphlet, paper, writing, card, advertisement, circular, print, picture, photograph, motion picture film, play, image, instrument, statue, drhwing, or other article which is obsc~me; and WHEREAS, notwithstanding the fact that there are ,no known violations of said laws in the City of. Circle Pines, a group of citizens has requested that the City Council of the City of Circle Pines~go on record indicating the Council's desire that the law~ ~f the State relating to obscene material be upheld; and WHEREAS, the Council,,~after discussions of the subject at several of its regular meetings~ and after being informed regarding the nature ~nd content of t~e State's laws relating to obscenity, has determined that it desires that said laws be up- held, to ~he extent said laws comply with the-Constitutions of the United States and ~he State of Minnesota. NOW, THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Circle Pines',that the Council desires that the laws of the State of Minnesota relating to obscenity be upheld, to the extent s~id laws comply with the Constitutions of the United States and the State of Minnesota. 1986.
