RESQLUTION NO. 87-02 <br /> <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> [OUNTY OF ANOKA <br /> CiTY OF LEXINGTON <br /> <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />THE CIT~' OF LEXINGTON DECLARING <br />COUNCIL'S DESIRE THAT THE LAWS <br />THE SI'AFE OF' MINNESOTA RELATING <br />OBSCENITY BE UPHELD. <br /> <br /> OF <br />THE <br /> OF <br /> TO <br /> <br /> WHf!REAS, the State of Minnesota has adopted certain <br />statues relating to obscenity, including Minnesota Statutes~ <br />Section 617.241, which provides that it is unlawful, <br />for any person knowingly to exhibit, sell, print, offer <br />to sell, give away, circulate, publish, distribute, or <br />attempt to distribute any obscene book, magazine, pamphlet, <br />paper, writing, card, advertisement, circular, print, <br />picture, photogra~h, motion picture film, .play, image, <br />instrument, statu(~, drawing, or other article which is <br />obscene~ and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a group of citizens has requested that <br />the City Council of the City of Lexington go on record <br />indicating the Council's desire that the laws of the <br />State relating to ~bscene material be upheld; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council, after being informed regarding <br />the nature and content of the State's laws' relating to <br />obscenity, has determined that it desires that. said laws <br />be upheld, to the ~xtent said laws comply with the Constitu- <br />tion of the United States and the State of Minnesota. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFO~E BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council <br />of the City of Lexington that the Council desires that <br />the laws of the State of Minnesota relating to obscenity <br />be upheld, to the extent said laws comply with the Constitu- <br />tion of the United States and the State of Minnesota. <br /> <br /> PASSED and .~dopted this 22nd <br />1987, by the Lexington City Council. <br /> <br />day of Oanuar) , <br /> <br /> ATTEST~ <br /> <br />fy Carrj~..r., jC---~.~Ad~-~i;~sstrator <br /> <br /> <br />
