Member Gromberg inquired if they were talking about having staff inform members of the EDA
of an event that may be coming up.

Associate Planner Wald replied yes.

Mr. Feeges stated that the Town Center recognition is great and there has to be some network in
place to inform members of the City as to what events are taking place.

Member Strommen replied that it is very important that the EDA and City Council are informed
of the events.

Member Kurak noted that another group that should be notified is the Town Center Task Force.

Consensus of the EDA was to direct staff to e-mail all EDA members of any upcoming events.

Case #7: Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies

City staff and elected officials have been attending ribbon-cutting ceremonies for newly opening
businesses and substantial infrastructure improvements. It is important to have a "City" presence
at these types of events in support of local businesses and achievements.

Member Gromberg suggested that the City work with the Chamber of Commerce.

Associate Planner Wald replied that the City already does work with the Chamber of Commerce.

Member Kiefer suggested that the flyer be provided to the business owner at the time the
occupation permit is granted.

Associate Planner Wald replied that staff has discussed that the flyer would be mailed directly to
all developers.

Member LeToumeau suggested that staff send out an e-mail to members of the EDA and the City
Council notifying them that a new business is locating in the City and request that some contact
the business owner informing them of the ribbon cutting ceremony along with mailing out the
flyer.

Consensus of the EDA was to direct staff to proceed with the recommendation made by Member
LeTourneau.

Case #8: Staff Update

Associate Planner Wald and TIF Specialist Sullivan reviewed the Staff Update Memo with the
EDA.

Economic Development Authority April 19, 2004
Page 9 of 10
