Goals <br /> <br /> A "goal" is a desired end toward which the WMO policies, standards, <br />criteria, and rules are directed. Under this definition, the organization <br />has nine specific goals to guide its water resources planning and <br />management functions: <br /> <br />Plan for future development and growth so as to minimize <br />with water and related land resources and to optimize the <br />of living for residents in the watershed <br /> <br />problems <br /> <br /> quality <br /> <br />Maintain or improve water quality in all protected and managed <br />water resources within the watershed <br /> <br />Reduce to the greatest practical extent the public capital <br />expenditures and maintenance costs needed to control volumes and <br />rates of stormwater runoff <br /> <br />4. Minimize flooding, erosion and sedimentation <br /> <br />5. Manage groundwater recharge <br /> <br />6. Preserve wildlife habitat areas of significant value <br /> <br />7. Preserve and improve water recreational opportunities and <br /> facilities <br /> <br />Maintain and improve all existing natural and artificial water <br />courses <br /> <br />Maintain a current inventory of water resources and water quality <br />data. <br /> <br /> <br />
