Mowing:
Most turf areas contain blends of Kentucky bluegrasses, fine-leafed fescues,
and perennial ryegramses. These cool season turfgrass species and cut tiYars
should be cut between 1-1/2 and 2-1/2 inches in height for maximum health and
appearance if the lawn is irrigated. If no irrigation, cut at a height of
2 to 2-1/2 inches.

The first spring cutting should be delayed until the grass has had an
o'pportunity to grow to allow for greater root development. The last cutting
in the fall should be done leaving the grass at a height of at least 2 to 3
inches as a protection against the winter season.

Try to cut the grass so that no more than one-third of a blade of grass is cut
during mowing; definitely before the grass has grown more than half its
cutting height. This may require that turf areas be m~'ed twice per week in
the spring, every two weeks in the summer and once a week in the fall.

The height of cut should always be about 1/2 inch higher during the summer
months. Restrict mowing tca minimum when turf is wet.

For grass that becomes overgrown, re~uce height of mowing in 1/2 inch
incr~ents until desired height is achieved. This cam be accomplished by
additional mowing over the no~--mal schedule.

Small rotator mowers should be used for hand trimming whenever practical. Line
trimmers may be used for tri~rwork along buildings, wall, fences, trees, and
other c~jects¢ Care must be taken when using nylon line trivets around trees
and shrubs with thin bark so as not to girdle or injure the plant.

Mowing o~-ations shall be scheduled Monda? through Saturday Wal}~-ays sha!~
be cleaned ~ ~':-~ ~ ' '
_mm_a~=.e~y foilcr¢~_ng each mo~ng.

'~' ---= ecs shall receive no less~h-m= the fo!!~-ing.
