2015 OUTREACH
Sharing the history of our county with students remains one of the most
important parts of the ACHS mission statement.
Museum in a Box ro
In a single week,we brought our Civil War program to
more than 600 sixth graders at the Anoka Middle
U-41 • aay.m.
'_-Iii V Wwl. PO
School for the Arts.Hundreds more enjoyed our _understandll -(— rOC
traveling education boxes as they circulated the schools
with hands-on artifacts like WWI uniforms,laundry !J
stompers, and flour sacks. We created these boxes
using the Northern Lights textbook published by the Minnesota Historical Society
to compliment their curriculum and make it easy on teachers looking for fun
supplements. With plans to round up the offerings to a dozen on our shelf in the
next year,we answered the call of District#11 teachers for a workshop designed
to explain the best way to use the box contents in conjunction with our program
series. Since funding continues to present challenges to the schools,we have
begun to solicit donations specifically to provide money for this opportunity.
Museum Boxes Created
0 World War I
0 Depression Era
0 Immigration
0 Logging
0 History Detectives
Young Historians Club
Near the end of 2015,we began the Fords from Young Historians
Young Historians Club in partnership
with the Anoka Middle School for "We had fun making Hardtack'
_ the Arts and teacher Lisa Sorenson. tonight.Everyone tried it
Once each month, four teachers bring (including the pups).
