2015 FINANCIAL GROWTH
As a publicly funded 501c3 nonprofit organization, the ACHS maintains responsibility
of creating sustainable revenue streams to augment the contribution received for
operating funds from Anoka County. This has traditionally come from memberships,
private and corporate donations, sponsorships, events, grants, and the sale of
promotional materials. In 2015,the ACHS saw an increase in support across all of
these avenues:
Annual Fundraising Event
Although a special fall event is held each year,a recognition
dinner occurs only once every three to five years.ACHS chose
to honor Natalie Haas Steffen, one of the first female County
Commissioners, with words kindly spoken by guests Former
Governor Arne Carlson,Minnesota Sports Facility Authority
CEO Ted Mondale, former Metropolitan Council Chair Peter
Bell,Pastor David Lechelt and Achieve Services Director,Tom
Weaver. This event raised a record$18,942 in profit to the
History Center thanks to the generous donations of time, talents
and treasure from the 220 people who participated.
Everything we knew about her was one of being able to
work well with people, able to achieve defined goals and
- objectives, and a creative mind. That fit very well.
Natalie's personally was a delight. That's one thing that
I remember was her personality was extremely pleasing.
Former Governor,Arne Carlson
Booklet Sales
Booklets discussing topics such as the Civil War and the Woodbury House raised over
$3,000 in 2015.This led ACHS staff to plan for the addition of several more booklets
in the future, beginning with the debut of Anoka Halloween Collectibles. This booklet
takes a look at the Anoka Halloween items in the ACHS collection.Moving forward,
each program, exhibit, and education box will have a corresponding booklet available
to the public at the library and on the shelves of participating partners in the county.
Look for new booklets throughout the next year!
Booklets Available($5 each)
0 Sentinel on the River: Woodbury House
0 Colonial Hall&the Doctors Aldrich
0 All for the Union:Anoka County Faces the Civil War
:, 0 Anoka Halloween Collectibles
Woodbury 0 Quilts and their Stories(Coming Soon)
]House 0 Anoka's Old Post Office(Coming Soon)
14
