2015 FiNANcIAL GROWTH
Memberships and Annual Appeal
Individual and business memberships declined slightly to 433 in 2015,but are
consistent with past fluctuations in ACHS's membership numbers.Members receive six
newsletters throughout the year, either by postal mail or their email inbox, which
contain articles about local history, the collections at ACHS,
current projects and upcoming events.
433 MEMBERSHIPS
Despite this dip in membership we held a record TRANSLATE TO
breaking annual appeal,which raised$6,737.This 521 MEMBERS
effort afforded us the ability to begin the exhibit hall
transformation into an on-going discussion of how
Suburbanization affected the county in both obvious and subtle ways.
The newsletter is really the only
tool to reach me.I read through
the whole[newsletter] to see if 500 Memberships Last 5 vears
anything is of interest to me, or
my friends. And then I tell them
Ica—
about it.Ilike to keep up with
what you are doing, especially 440
if an upcoming project might ♦o
relate to my own family history.
Like the Suburbanization 3'5
exhibit, my family grew up in "Si!
Coon Rapids and have a lot of 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015
history related to that.
Rita Warpeha,Member
Ox Cart Trail Grant
The history of the Ox Cart Trail through Minnesota brings to life a tradition of
commerce based on the transportation of goods and cooperation between the Native and
settler peoples. With the exception of a few notables like Pierre Bottineau, the Metis
culture has gone relatively uncelebrated. This project worked with scholar Jennifer
Stampe and Mississippi River expert Reggie McLeod to research and determine
important sites along the bike trail from Minneapolis to Anoka that could correspond
with photos, stories, and information on a mobile application for people to enjoy.
Shared Services Grant
This project created the opportunity for nine nonprofit organizations to determine
whether reductions in staff time and resources could be accomplished by sharing
administrative costs and services.Led by consultant Brian McMahon, the partners
compared needs and expenses, determining the priorities of small museums and history
organizations while also identifying the challenges of meeting those needs
collaboratively.
15
