Councihnember Elvig questioned if this action will be retroactive to May 20, 2004. <br /> <br />Human Resources Manager Reed responded in the affirmative. <br /> <br />4) Accept Resignation of Accounting Clerk and Authorize Staff to Begin the <br /> Recruitment Process for an Accounting Clerk <br /> <br />Human Resources Manager Reed explained on June 17, 2004, Ms. Jennie Loeffler resigned from <br />her position as Accounting Clerk effective July 9, 2004. Staff is recommending that Ms. <br />Loeffler's resignation be accepted. Staff further recommends that the City Council grant <br />authorization to begin the recruitment process to hire an Accounting Clerk. The Personnel <br />Committee forwarded this for approval from the City Council. <br /> <br />Motion by Councihnember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Kurak, to ratify the <br />recommendation of the Persmmel Committee in cases two through four, to adopt Resolution #04- <br />06-156 attthorizing the appointments of Bradley Jorgensen, Michelle Dvorak, Brett Eenhuis, Kim <br />Suchy, Andrew Dubois, Chad Mulheron, Derek Dodds and JeffErickson to the positions of paid, <br />on-call fire fighters on the schedule proposed by staff and contingent upon satisfactory physical <br />examinations and drug screens; to adopt Resolution #04-06-157 ending the probationary period <br />for Patrol Officer Ryan Law and granting him status as a regular full-time employee effective <br />May 20, 2004; to adopt Resolution #04-06-158 accepting Jennie Loeffler's resignation from her <br />position as Accounting Clerk effective July 9, 2004; and granting authorization to begin the <br />recruitment process to hire an Accounting Clerk. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Cook, Kurak, Elvig, Pearson, <br />Strommen, and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #7: Adopt Ordinance (Special Fire Protection Systems) to Include Chapter 1306 <br /> to the Minnesota Building Code (Continuation from 6/08/04 CC Meeting) <br />Public Works Director Kapler reviewed that a public hearing was held to introduce this <br />ordinance at the May 25, 2004 City Council meeting. He noted the inclusion of this chapter in <br />City Code does not affect unattached one and two family homes unless they are over 8,500 <br />square feet. The Fire Chief, Fire Code Inspector, and the Building Official all feel adopting <br />Chapter 1306 is vital to the long-term safety and economic stability of the community. <br /> <br />Councihnember Kurak clarified the 8,500 square feet in a single family home would include the <br />basement and garage, as well as the garage on townhomes. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Kapler responded in the affirmative. <br /> <br />Councihnember Elvig noted there was some conversation earlier as to concern about what this <br />does to the cost of the building. He spent time with Public Works Director Kapler and a few <br />other folks, and there are equivalencies they need to look at to make these more affordable. This <br />installation is simpler than he had thought, and it is his understanding there are other systems <br />available that are UL listed, with a flexible hose with snap type fittings.
