Noted that nobody know~' the reasons for the. <br />accidents at Crystal but only one of them would have been serious, had there <br />been safety zoning in place such as Ramsey is proposing tonight. Year of <br />airplanes falling on homes ~hou]d come from inaction rather th~n action on <br />the proposed zoning ordinance. <br /> <br />Judy Brown - 16645 222. rd Avenue - Big Lake - Stated ~he is a private pilot <br />considering continuing training (training that costs $5,000 per pilot) at <br />Gateway and in favor of airport zoning. She is al~o a member of the 99's <br />which is an international organization of women pilots that do lifesaving <br />flights and has pilots based at Gateway. Noted that she is also employed <br />st Gateway and feels it is important for the community to have airport <br />zoning. · <br /> <br />Ken Patz- Stated he does not live in Ramsey but he is the Department of <br />Aviation Chairman at the AVTI which has had teaching facili:ie~, at Gateway <br />since 1976. He has a pilot's license and has been involved in aviation for <br />21 years during which time he has observed many meetings regarding airport <br />zoning ordinances' in many communities. Adopting zoning is essential for <br />safety reasons and to show the seriousness of developing the airport if the <br />city is going to march forwad in developing. Airport improvements are <br />important to the community and it will create more jobs; airports do bring <br />business into an area. <br /> <br />Steve Kerr- Coon Rapids - Stated he is in favor of airport zoning and <br />believes there is the potential for it to prohibit expansion cf the <br />sanitary landfill, Stated that there is also a search going on for <br />property on ~_~cn to locate ~ second metro ~zrport to accommodate most <br />freight flights coming in and out of Mimneapo!is international.
