DSTATE OF <br /> <br /> EPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES <br /> 1200 Warner Rd., St. Paul, MN. 55106 <br />PHONE NO.612 / 296-7523 FILE NO. <br /> <br />September 24, 1987 <br /> <br />Ms. Anne Norris <br />City of Ramsey <br />15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W. <br />Ramsey, ~. 55303 <br /> <br />Dear Ms. Norris: <br /> <br />RE: VARIANCE HEARINGS, SEPTEMBER 24, 1987 BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT M~ETING <br /> <br />I have reviewed the information provided and have made field <br />inspections of the following variances: <br /> <br />RICHARD DREHER, RIVERSBEND ASSOCIATES PARTNERSHIP: Since the <br /> requested variance deals with the city code standards for <br /> identification signs, the Department has no jurisdiction or <br /> certification authority for the requested variance. Therefore, <br /> we have no objections or comments related to Mr. Dreher's <br /> request. <br /> <br />A.J. PARENT COMPANY: I have had several meetings and field <br /> inspections with Mr. Parent and the property owners regarding the <br /> location of the proposed house. Based on additional information <br /> that has been provided by Mr. Parent, the proposed structure <br /> would be inline with the average setback of the structures on the <br /> adjoining lots. The setback from the OHW of the proposed house <br /> ~a_=~ variance. (The Department <br /> is ill-feet; representing a <br /> has maintained a position that where development exists on <br /> adjoining lots, the proposed structure may be located at the <br /> average setback line of those adjoining lot~s structures.) There <br /> is a substantial setback (approximately 50-feet) from the bluff <br /> ~ which will reduce the <br /> ............ _s ...... ~ from the river. <br /> Also, the existence of a scenic easement immediately to the rear <br /> ~ the house .~ '~ = . <br /> ~_ ~ox_ce~ additiena~ assurance that the area will not <br /> be unnecessarily disturbed. ! have advised Mr. Parent and the <br /> Jansen's of the city code requirements for s~aiz-ways, landings, <br /> and vegetative alterations and their intentions appear to be <br /> consistent with the purposes of the Department and city code. <br /> Therefore, the Department has no objection to the granting of the <br /> variance as requested. Be advised that certification of the <br /> variance is required pursuant to the city's ordinance.
