mrosmon ~ meQmmenn uonnrom
S~ptember 16, 1987
Page two

II.

III.

IV.

Berm Construction

A. At minimum a 2-2½'/"earthen berm with a top width of 2-3' should be
shaped at the top of the river bank area. It should conform to the
natural bermed-landscape that now exists. (See DNR specs for plantings
to be used.) Side slopes should be 3:1.
B. On the north, northeast bank area adjacent to. the house, the top crown
of the existing bank should be elevated and moved out to align diagon-
ally approximately with the corner of the deck to high bank area. This
is to insure runoff to the south rather than the backyard area.
1.) ~e face of this slope should be sodded and staked (3-4" of topsoil
should.be applied to all areas that are to be sodded).
2.) The backyard area should be sodded.
C. A temporary berm should be shaped at the northwest corner of the house,
2-3' high with a top width of 3' and side slopes of 3:1. This is to
direct all roof runoff and impervious surface runoff in a northwest
direction to existing lowland area.
1.) ~e downward face of the berm should be mulched and netted. Entire
area on north side of~house (excluding constructed swale area) should
be mulched. (See appendix B.)

Grassed Diversion (north side of house)

A grassed diversion channel should be shaped extending from backyard
. area ito~ilow lying natural area on t, he north side of,the house. This
channel should:
I.) Have a 6-12" drop 'from lowest point in backyard area to flow point
in natural low area on north side. (Regency Homes will do elevation
shots to determine proper drop on channel).
2.) Channel should be a shallow 6-12" depth flat bottom V shape, and have
a minimum of 2-2.5' bottom width. Side slopes should be no greater
then 3:1. (The shaping of the channel can be aesthetically done
to conform to natural contours of the lot.)
3.) The east bank of the channel should be sodded and staked up to
natural vegetation line,
4.) The west bank of channel and entire channel area should be sodded and
staked, sod should extend 2' beyond ~op slope and should abut the
mulching and netting procedure on north side of house.

Rain Gutter Installation

A. South side of house:
1,) The fascial area to be guttered on the north side of deck should
be connected :o gutter system on back side cf house to exit en the
north side of house only.
B. West side of house:
1.) Back side of house should have gutter along entire length of house
to be outleted on northeast corner of house. Drop pipe should have
a wide"bas~ for diffusing water flow or an extension'pipe into the
diversion channel also with a diffusion base.
