Barton is <br />willing to construct any turn lanes nc~-x]ed for safer access to the site. <br />Barton Sand and Gravel is concerned about the communities they have <br />operations in and makes every attempt to take an active part in and work <br />with those ~mmmi~es. <br /> <br />Bo~ Miller - 14726 P~msey Blvd. - Stated that he has a two-story home on <br />elevated property and the beaming and planting of young trees proposed by <br />Barton may not serve it's purpose where his property is concerned for a <br />nu~er of years. <br /> <br />Gary Sauer replied that larger trees could be planted in that area to get a <br />head-start on effective screening. <br /> <br />Bob Miller - Referred to layouts of the operation and asked how high <br />ntockpiles get. <br /> <br />Gary Sauer stated that the layout scale would indicate 50' stockpiles but <br />he doubts they ever get that high. <br /> <br />Bob Miller - Inquired if a majority of the truck traffic would be using <br />Industry Avenue or or Pamsey Blvd. <br /> <br />Gary Sauer replied that both Ramsey Blvd. and Industry Avenue would be used <br />for hauling materials into the site. <br /> <br />Vic Bunis - 7101 149th r~ne - Inquired as to the amount of truck traffic <br />there would he. <br /> <br />Gary Sauer replied that their estimates show 360,000 tons of materials <br />entering and leaving the property in the 8 month construction season; at 20 <br />tons per truckload, truck traffic would amount to 2,250 trucks/month or 112 <br />trucks/day or 14 trucks/hour or 1 truck/4 minutes. <br /> <br />Vic Bunis - Inquired if the asphalt plant is designed to be a long-term <br />operation. <br /> <br />Gary Sauer replied that it is. <br /> <br />Vic Bunis - Inquired as to why City Council would all(~ the develo~ent of <br />an as~t plant when they are trying to force an airport in that would <br />involve putting a road right through the middle of the Barton property. <br /> <br />Chairman Peterson stated that the airport improvements are being studied <br />and until a decisic~ is made to proceed with the improvements, Barton Sand <br />and Gravel has every right to make use of their land. <br /> <br />Ms. Norris stated that Council is not c(~m~/tted to expanding the airport; <br />public hearings regarding airport zoning are scheduled for March 11. <br /> <br />Vic Bunis - Inquired how much it will cost the City to acquire the Barton <br />property if the airport is approved after Barton has been given approval to <br />develop. <br /> P&Z Public Hearing/March 3, 1987 <br /> <br />Page 2 of 6 <br /> <br /> <br />
