Chairperson Steffen confirmed the consensus of the EDA in agreement with the 2017 EDA <br />Workplan as proposed. <br />4.03: 2017 EDA Budget <br />Economic Dev. Mgr/Assistant City Administrator Brama presented the staff report. He provided <br />additional information on how a staffing position will be funded and shifted from the EDA <br />budget. <br />Member Skaff asked for additional information on the training item. <br />Economic Dev. Mgr/Assistant City Administrator Brama noted that three of the four courses <br />have been completed and therefore there is a significant decrease in funding for that item. <br />Motion by Member Skaff, seconded by Member Burandt, to recommend to City Council that the <br />2017 EDA Budget be approved as presented. <br />Further discussion: Economic Dev. Mgr/Assistant City Administrator Brama stated that he <br />would like guidance with the 20 hour per week staffing position. <br />City Administrator Ulrich commented that he highly supports the creation of the position. <br />Chairperson Steffen confirmed the consensus of the EDA to support the 20 hour per week <br />administrative staffing position. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Steffen, Members Skaff, Burandt, Brunt, LeTourneau, <br />and Williams. Voting No: None. Absent: Members Hardin and Riley. <br />4.04: EDA Business of the Year <br />Economic Dev. Mgr/Assistant City Administrator Brama presented the staff report. He stated <br />that staff would love to have input from the EDA on which businesses should be moved from the <br />big list to the small list. He noted that there is no time constraint and the decision could be <br />delayed if desired. <br />Member LeTourneau stated that Dedicated Networks recently had a large expansion and is a big <br />employer. <br />Chairperson Steffen asked if there are criteria to consider. <br />Economic Dev. Mgr/Assistant City Administrator Brama explained the process that staff uses, <br />noting that there is not a strict policy on which names can be placed on the large list and <br />explained that the recommendation of the EDA usually moves a business to the small list.
