LETTERS AND COMMUNICATIONS

The Commission noted the following:

1) Copy of a letter sent to Mr. Rick Dame regarding the use of
Central Park during fall of 1984.

2) Copy of a Resolution prepared for Terry McLean to be signed
by all Park Board members.

PARK COMMISSION BUSINESS

Case #1: Mr. Arnold Cox Reqardinq Rum River Development Park:

Mr. Cox was present to bring the Commission up to date on the
status of development of Rum River Development Park; the two
fields to the north have been totally graded and seeded. Two
swells have been detected as of the last rainfall and they will
be repaired and reseeded. Dirt is stockpiled on the south
diamond and grading of it should be completed this fall yet.

Mr. Cox pointed out that this development park totally complies
with all requirements for grant dollars and to this date a
significant amount of engineering and labor has been donated
which could be considered as the City's matching portion; Mr. Cox
suggested that since Central Park was rejected for grant dollars
because it is outside the urban area, Ramsey might just as well
reapply for dollars for Rum River Development Park because Ramsey
is entitled to some of those monies.

Mr. Cox also noted that the housing development to the north of
the park is called River's Bend and will have a nautical theme;
the developer has offered to donate a sign for the park that will
carry through the same nautical theme engraved with whatever the
City decides to name the park. Mr. Cox presented a drawing
showing the design and type of sign proposed.

Mr. Cox stated that he will be meeting with YMCA's state Director
and Anoka County Chamber of Commerce President on Tuesday,
September 25, 1984 at 7:00 a.m. at McGregor's Restaurant and
invited any and all of the Commission members to also attend that
meeting at which the topic of discussion will be a YMCA facility
to be located on Rum River Development Park property.

Motion by Commissioner Licther and seconded by Commissioner
Hetland to request that City Council support the location of a
YMCA facility at the Rum River Development Park and that the City
donate the amount of !and required for that YMCA facility.

Motion carried.
