COUNTY OF ANOKA <br /> Office of the County Board of Commissioners <br /> <br />COURTHOUSE ANOKA, MINNESOTA 55303 612-421-4760 <br /> <br /> January 12, 198/~ <br /> <br />The Honorable Tom Gomec <br />Mayor, City of Ramsey <br />5810 Neon Street N.W. <br />Anoka, Minnesota $5303 <br /> <br />Re: Use of ICj8~-1986 CDBG Funds <br /> <br />Dear Mayor Gamec: <br /> <br />This letter is a response to your request for information on CDBG activities <br />which could be pursued in the City of Ramsey. <br /> <br />Any activity covered by CDBG funds must either benefit predominantly lower <br />income persons (at least 51% of the service group) or correct conditions of slum <br />and blight as determined by State Statute. <br /> <br />The activities which the City could consider are: <br /> <br />Public facilities and improvements: building, roads, sewer/water <br /> facilities, porks, etc. <br />Acquisition of property for public purpose <br />Clearance <br />Public services: employment, recreation, education, health, crime <br /> prevention, welfare, etc. (os long os these activities do not replace <br /> those currently funded by city or countyXlimited to 15% of TARGET <br /> AREA grant by all cities in Target area) <br /> Relocation of displaced persons <br />Handicapped accessibility improvements (including within government <br /> bui Idings) <br />Privately owned utilities (gas, electric, etc.) <br />Rehabilitation of private or public buildings <br />Economic development: assistance to industries/commercial development <br />Planning costs associated wih a CDBG activity <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />Activities which cannot be covered by CDBG ore: <br /> <br />Any general 9overnment function, including any construction of, <br /> rehabilitation of or addition to a building used for general <br /> government <br />purchase of equipment unless for public service or economic development <br /> activity <br /> <br />Affirmative Action / Equal Opportunity Employer <br /> <br /> <br />
