Hid~-~v 10 to car~' an increase in the fl~,' of t}~ougN traffic, <br />~r~ i <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the P~..~.~..~ ,~,,~ also prQ,~ses to 7~<e extensive Lmprove,.~nts in <br />the Ferry Street bridce across the Mississippi Pivot to carry an <br />ir,crease:] traffic load, and <br /> <br />%~{E~AS, both of these proposed projects affect densely occupied <br />c~Tercial and residential property which will be greatly d~maged by the <br />increase in through traffic and the decrease in accessibility from, the <br />hig~y on which ~ey front, and <br /> <br />%'~{EREAS, there will be extensive disruption of norm,,at traffic and <br />corv, erce during the time that the bridge will be closed for <br />reconstruction, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, common sense dictates that through-traffic routes be designed <br />toby-pass "d~wntown" areas and businesses which cater primarily to <br />local trade, and <br /> <br />V~EREAS, the construction of the proposed median on North Ferry Street <br />will substantially damage Anoka Electric Cooperative's property for <br />which the Department of Transportation will have to pay just <br />c~nsation~ <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Directors of the Anoka <br />Electric ODoperative respectfully requests that the Anoka City Council, <br />the Champlin City Council and the Ramsey City Council encourage the <br />~nnesota Department of Transportation to consider alternatives to the <br />proposed reconstruction of Ferry Street and the Mississippi River <br />Bridge, such alternatives including the re-routing of U.S. Highway 169 <br />to by-pass Champlin and Anoka, and to cross the Mississippi River at a <br />new bridge ~ediatelywest of the Anoka City Limit. <br /> <br />CERTIFICATION <br /> <br /> I, Lyle Schleif, Secretary of the Anoka Electric Cooperative, do <br />hereby certify, that the above is a true and correct copy of a <br />resolution duly adopted by the Board of Directors of ~oka Electric <br />Cooperative at its regular Board Meeting on January 19, 1984, which <br />meeting a quoru~was present. <br /> <br />Date 1-19-84 <br /> <br />L~ltF Schleif,' .~,ec~'e~ <br /> <br /> <br />
