Commissioner Troy asked about the warranty on the product. Mr. Greenwald stated Surface Pro
does not usually use Armor Crack but they included it in their quote and would be willing to use
it for this project. Commissioner Troy asked if total replacement costs were obtained and Mr.
Greenwald stated one bid was received at $130,000.
Chair Bennett mentioned some of the causes of court cracking being water standing, etc. Mr.
Riverblood explained how the resurfacing would be done.
Mr. Roger Schutte, Coon Rapids, stated he is a frequent user of the courts and his group plays
there Tuesday and Thursday mornings. He stated some of the cracking may be due to the
irrigation system. There has been a gradual deterioration of the courts over the years. He is happy
with what the Commission is planning for the courts. Commissioner Troy asked Mr. Schutte if
he felt the posts and nets needed to be replaced and Mr. Schutte stated if the posts could be re-
anchored that would be great. Chair Bennett asked if the posts and nets were researched. Mr.
Riverblood stated City Staff looked at the sprinkler heads. Commissioner Troy asked if there was
value in removing snow from the court in the winter months and Mr. Riverblood stated that it
would not be a practical option. Mr. Riverblood stated a contingency could be put in with the
recommendation to cover the cost of post repair and nets as needed. Commissioner Troy asked if
there was a chance after the resurfacing was done the players would go elsewhere. Chair Bennett
asked how many courts there are in the City and do monies need to be added for resurfacing.
There are six additional courts in the City.
Motion by Commissioner Fyten, seconded by Commissioner Mobry, to recommend to the City
Council, reconditioning of the tennis courts at Rivers' Bend Park by Surface Pro LLC. at a not-
to-exceed cost of$30,000 and a contingency amount of$6,800 for posts and netting. The funding
source will be from Park Maintenance Fund.
Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chair Bennett, Commissioners Fyten Mobry, Trappen, and Troy.
Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioners Barr and Logan
Parks & Assistant Public Works Superintendent Riverblood stated for the monument
replacement, staff recommends proceeding with organizing options and costs. At the same time
staff is investigating city-wide way finding signage and developing iconic signage methods
relative to Ramsey's brand. The monument replacement should be considered within this process
and it is anticipated to occur over the next few months.
6.
