Commissioner Van Scoy indicated he does not know either of the people involved, but agreed <br />that when the helicopter comes in he circles over the wetlands, and is very careful about his <br />landing. I-Ie also agreed that requiring 10 acres is excessive. <br />Commissioner Watson stated he lives close too, and has no problems with the helicopter. <br />Chairperson Nixt indicated their recommendation was to relax the standards and bring it back for <br />review. <br />Motion by Chairperson Nixt, seconded by Commissioner Jeffrey to approve the following <br />minutes as presented: <br />1) Planning Commission public hearing and regular meeting minutes dated May 6, 2004. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Nixt, Commissioners Johnson, Jeffrey, Shepherd, and <br />Watson. Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioner Brauer. Commissioner Van Scoy <br />abstained. <br />NOTE CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br />1) City Council regular meeting minutes dated April 27, 2004 <br />Chairperson Nixt noted the City Council minutes. <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS/COMMISSION BUSINESS <br />Case #1 : Public Hearing — Request for a Home Occupation Permit; Case of Stephen <br />Graunke <br />Presentation <br />Associate Planner Geisler advised the City recently adopted a Home Occupation Ordinance that <br />establishes provisions for residents to apply for a home occupation permit to operate a business <br />within an accessory structure. She indicated Stephen Graunke resides at 17220 Nowthen <br />Boulevard and is requesting a Home Occupation Permit to operate a glass and mirror business on <br />his property. <br />Associate Planner Geisler stated the Home Occupation Ordinance states that a person can apply <br />for a permit from the City to operate a business within an accessory structure if the property is at <br />least three acres in size, said business is low intensity, and does not adversely affect the character <br />of the residential neighborhood. She indicated Mr. Graunke's parcel is 23.5 acres in size with a <br />large accessory building on the property. He proposes to operate an office within the house and <br />store materials and equipment in the accessory building. She stated Mr. Graunke operates his <br />business with one partner, and has no employees at this time.
