I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br />I <br />,I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ,84- <br /> <br />RESOLUTION REGARDING NEED FOR PRELIMINARY ASSESSMENT TO IDENTIFY <br />MAJOR ISSUES RELATIVE TO TRAFFIC PROBLEMS IN NORTH HENNEPIN <br />AND SOUTHWEST ANOKA COUNTY AREAS <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, representatives of the following communities and counties: Cities <br />of Andover, Anoka, Brooklyn Park, Champlin, Coon Rapids, Dayton, Ramsey and <br />the Counties of Anoka and Hennepin have appointed representatives to a task force <br />to analyze and make recommendations relative to traffic problems common to the <br />area (as an example, the Ferry Street crossing of the Mississippi River between Anoka <br />and Champlin); and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this group has met and determined that there is need for an umbrella <br />organization with area-wide jurisdiction to coordinate the efforts of the task force; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council is playing, and has played, such a role <br />in other similar situations, i.e. CAB sewer, metropolitan stadium, sewer separation, <br />storm water drainage problems, etc., it is the desire of the communities and counties <br />involved to have the Metropolitan Council play a similar coordinating, planning role <br />in this multi-jurisdictional problem. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY~ STATE OF MINNESOTA that the City Council of the <br />City of Anoka formally requests through the affected areas' representatives to the <br />Metropolitan Council, Commissioner Josephine Nunn and Commissioner Don Stein, <br />that the Metropolitan Council coordinate the activities of the North Metro Traffic <br />Task Force and perform a preliminary assessment of the need(s) for traffic <br />improvements for the area in question. <br /> <br /> <br />
