Klm Langfield (Pack 376), Paula Staples and Wila Heger's Girl Scouts participated with 4H
groups - "Lamplighters" (Gayl¢ Rogers), "Cheerful Chuggers" (Kathi Peterson), "Ramsey Road
Runners" (Glen Hardin) and Barb Yenish in tree planting and roadside litter pick-up.

Hundreds of trees were planted at City Hall and Brookwiew Park after the Arbor Da3' Ceremony,
Jim Strosheim (B.S.A. #362) volunteered to spread wood chips around the seedlings planted at
City Hall. More than half of last year's plantings survived the drought, and the chips will help
protect their roots from the summer heat and winter cold.

The City of Ramsey's Decenualized Brush Chipping Program designated 5 drop-off sites for
material under 5" diameter. The City Hall site received approximately 4(7 cubic yards, River's
Bend Park about 10 cubic yards, Titterud Park about 60 cubic yards, Central Park about 100 cubic
yards and Cross of Hope about 10 cubic yards. This is a total of 220 cubic yards of brush.
Residents who have dead trees and brush are encouraged to make application ~or the curbside
chipping program (the application form is on the last page of the Ramsey Resident newsletter).
The Anoka County diseased wood and yard waste drop-off site at 133rd and Hanson Blvd. in
Coon Rapids is open to residents Monday, Wednesday and Friday from Noon to 7:30 p.m.,
Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday Noon to 5:00 p.m.

Ramsey's Keep America Beautiful Committee has set Saturday, May 4, 1991 as next year's Clean-
Up Day. Residents willing to volunteer for planning and implementing next year's events are
encouraged to come to the next committee meeting on Monday, June 4, 1990 at 7:00 p.m. at the
Ramsey Municipal Center. The regular meeting date is the £n'st Monday of each month at 7:00
p.m. at the Ramsey Municipal Center. Committee workers for the Fall 1990 Household
Hazardous Waste Clean-Up Day are encouraged to attend.

Volunteers, comments and suggestions are also needed for 1991 Arbor Events planning. Arbor
Day 1991 will be on Saturday, April 27th. If you have benefitted from this year's progams and
events, help us keep on truckin' with a continuingly better program and more comprehensive series
of events next year. This is a change to meet and work with other environmentally concerned
residents, city staff, and government, as welt as non-profit agencies.

If you have questions or comments and want to volunteer, please contact Claudia Dodge, Ramsey
Communi~, Education (422-5 t 99), Bruce Bacon, Environmental Specialist (427-1410), Kathi
Peterson (427-3844) or Glen Hardin (753-4964).
