A downward projection of the <br />center line of the inspection pipe shall be directly in line with the center <br />line of the inlet or outlet device. <br /> <br /> 15. Compartmentation. Septic tanks larger than three thousand (3,000) <br />gallons and fabricated as a single unit shmll be divided into two (2) or more <br />compartments. <br /> <br />ae <br /> <br />b <br /> <br />When a septic tank is divided into two (2) compartments, not <br />less than one-half (1/2)', nor more than two-thirds (2/3) of <br />the total volume shall be in the first ~cx~mpartment <br />When a septic t~k is divided into three (3) or more <br />compartments, one-half (1/2) of the total volume shall be in <br />the first compartment and the other one-half (1/2) equally <br />divided in the other compartments. <br /> <br /> 16. Connections between compartments shall be baffles so as to obtain <br />effective retention of scum and sludge. Adequate venting shall be provided between compartments by baffles <br />or by an opening of at least fifty (50) square inches near the top of the <br />compartmnt wall. <br /> <br /> 18. Adequate access to each compartment shmll be provided by one (1) <br />or more manholes, at least twenty (20) inches in d~mmnsion, and located within <br />six (6) feet of any wall of the tank. The manhole shall extend to a point <br />within twelve (12) inches, but not closer than six (6) inches, below finished <br />grade. The manhole cover shall be covered with at least six (6) inches of <br />earth. <br /> <br /> 19. Where more than one (1) tank is used to obtain the required liquid <br />volume, the tanks shal be connected in series. <br /> <br />Each tank shall comply with all other provisions of Chmpter <br />150.014C. <br />No more than four (4) tanks in series can be used to obtain <br />the re,tired liquid volume. <br />The first tank shall be no smaller than any subsequent tanks <br />in series. <br /> <br /> 20. Aerobic tanks. Aerobic tank treatment syst~m.~ shall comply with <br />the general recp;~rements for sewage tanks set forth in Subd. 2, and with the <br />following: <br /> a. The treatment system including each individual unit or <br /> compartment shall be easily accessible for inspection and <br /> maintenance and shall be provided with secured covers. <br /> b. The raw sewage flow from the dwelling shall be intercepted by <br /> a trash trap prior to its entering the aeration compartment. <br /> The trash trap shall have a net hold{rig capacity of not less <br /> than 20 percent of the average daily flow. The invert level <br /> to the trap shall be above the liquid level and discharge <br /> directly into the trap. The outlet from the trap to the <br /> aeration compartment shall be deep baffled or equipped with <br /> a tee or long ell. <br /> <br /> <br />
