I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />i <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />-9- <br /> <br />Ce <br /> <br />hJ <br /> <br />The trash trap shall be readily accessible for inspection and <br />effective cleaning and shall be so constructed as to prevent <br />unauthorized entry. <br />The aeration compartment shall have a minimum holding <br />capacity of 500 gallons or 120 gallons per bedroom, whichever <br />is greater. <br />The method of aeration shall be acomnplished by mechanical <br />aeration, diffused air, or both. The method used shall <br />maintain aerobic conditions at all times. <br />The settling compartment s~all have a m~nimum net holding <br />capacity equal to 20 percent of the volume of the aeration <br />compartment. The design shall provide for effective settling <br />and continuous return of settled sludge to the aeration <br />compartment. <br />A minimum one year warranty and an initial two year service <br />contract which specified regular inspection calls and <br />effluent quality checks shall be provided as a part of the <br />purchase agreement. <br />All other features of the aerobic tanks not specifically <br />mentioned above shall comply with National Sanitation <br />Foundation Standard No. 40 (November 1970). <br /> <br />Subd. 3 CAPACITY <br /> <br />The liquid capacity of a septic tank serving a dwelling shall be based on the <br />n~m~er of bedrooms contemplated in the dwelling and shall be at least as large <br />as the capacities given below. <br /> <br />Ntm~r of Bedrooms Tank Liquid Capacities (gallons) <br /> 3 or less 1,000 <br /> 4 1,250 <br /> 5 1,500 <br /> <br />For each additional bedroom, add 250 gallons. <br /> <br />ESTABLISHMENTS <br /> <br />The liquid capacity of a septic tank serving an establishment other than a <br />dwelling shall be sufficient to provide a sewage detention period of not less <br />than thirty-six (36) hours in the tank for flows less than one thousand five <br />hundred (1,500) gallons per day, but in no instance shall the liquid capacity be <br />less than one thousand (1,000) gallons. For flows greater than one thousand <br />five hundred (1,500) gallons per day, the minimum liquid capacity sbm]l equal <br />one thousand one hundred twenty-five (1,125) gallons plus seventy-five per cent <br />(757o) of the daily sewage flow rate, which shall be determined by mmasurement or <br />estimated from data provided by the agency. <br /> <br />Subd. 4 LOCATION <br /> <br /> 1. The sewage tank shall be placed so that access is convenient for <br />the removal of liquids and accumulated solids. <br /> <br /> <br />
