I I' I I I Through adootion of Resolution 85-21 (~arch, 1983), Ra.m.~ey City Co,mncil requested deletion from zne H~zardous as*e Commis ion InvenZory o~' Site:., The C~t~ Council, to rate, continues to oppose locating a site in she city. On Aug_u,~:t 25, 1~, the ~i;;q~Board selected am area in the city, fo~ inclusion on the state's "Invenzor~' of Preferred Areas" for .hazardous waste proc.s~sin/~ f~cilities. Being placed on the "list" does not guarantee a facility o,~. the site. Ramsay has involved itself at public meetings and hearings and has a reoresentative on the Processin~ Areas Task Force. From these meetings has come input into the Hazardous '#aste .,tmnagement Plan. The Plan~ once drafted by the ~,.!~'i~B in January, 1984 will be presented to tae Legislature along with a document 'entitled "Certificate of Need" The LeEislature ,:'ilt then consider m~,,,B s recommendations pertaining to orocessinM and disoosal of Minnesota's hazardous waste through the year 2000. A public hearing was held on January 16, 1984 for input to the above menticned Plan. :,¥ritten comment will be accepted up to January 30, 1984 and will be taken into consideration ~ith all oral comments ~¥hen '~he l~[,:'i~[B rewrites the Plan prior to submission to the Legislature in February. In order for all of us to be ?.iven the opportuni+~y to s_here feelines, opinions, and statements I h~ve gone over the Plan hs it is presently drafted and I have pulled out several points that could and possibly should have input from us either as a Cotuucil or as individuals. I will take it upon myself to draft a letter to the 2~'~/~B as a follow up so that we will hsve inrut into the hearing process if : ~-~ i~ deemed necessary a~te~_ our CotuuciTM- meeting.
