CITY OF RAMSEY ANOKA COUNTY STATE OF MINNESOTA AMENDMENT to Chapter 110 of the City Code which is known as the Health, Safety and Welfarc Chapter of the City Code. AN ORDINANCE amending Chapter 110 of the City Code of Ramsey, Minnesota by the addition of Chapter 110.20. The City Council of the City of Ramsey ordains: SECTION 1. AMENDMENT Chapter 110.20 entitled "Storage of Wood" is hereby added to the City Code and should read as follows: llO.ZO STORAGE OF WOOD SECTION llO.21 Statement of Policy. The City Council finds and declares that the use of viable alternative energy sources is increasing in the City of Ramsey. It is the intent of the City to encourage such viable sources including wood. The Council also realizes that young children can become attracted to woodpiles and that climbing of such piles can result in injury to the children. To protect the public health and safety, the City Council enacts the following regulations. SECTION ll0.ZZ Scope. This Chapter applies to the storage or keeping of wood on residential properties within the City where the wood is not stored within an enclosure capable of protecting the wood from the elements. It shall apply to any wood or wood product usually used or intended to be used as firewood in the residence or any accessory structure. SECTION 110.23 Conditions for Storage. Wood stored or kept in the City which is not contained within a coverage enclosure impervious to the elements shall be stored or kept in neat and secure stacks no more than five (5) feet in height as measured from the ground surface; provided, however, that no wood shall be stacked within the required area of setback from a public street right-of-way. SECTION 110.24 Existing Woodpiles. Any woodpile in existence as of August 1, 1984, which does not comply with the provisions of this Chapter must be removed or placed in compliance with the terms of this Chapter within one (1) year after written notice to comply is given by the Zoning Officer. Such notice shall be in writing and shall be served upon the property owner either in person or bv certified mail.
