I <br /> I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE ~84-! <br /> <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />AMENDMENT to Chapter 110 of the City Code which is known as the Health, Safety <br />and Welfarc Chapter of the City Code. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE amending Chapter 110 of the City Code of Ramsey, Minnesota by <br />the addition of Chapter 110.20. <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of Ramsey ordains: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. AMENDMENT <br /> <br /> Chapter 110.20 entitled "Storage of Wood" is hereby added to the City Code and <br />should read as follows: <br /> <br />llO.ZO STORAGE OF WOOD <br /> <br />SECTION llO.21 Statement of Policy. <br /> <br />The City Council finds and declares that the use of viable alternative <br />energy sources is increasing in the City of Ramsey. It is the intent <br />of the City to encourage such viable sources including wood. The <br />Council also realizes that young children can become attracted <br />to woodpiles and that climbing of such piles can result in injury <br />to the children. To protect the public health and safety, the City <br />Council enacts the following regulations. <br /> <br />SECTION ll0.ZZ Scope. <br /> <br />This Chapter applies to the storage or keeping of wood on residential <br />properties within the City where the wood is not stored within an <br />enclosure capable of protecting the wood from the elements. It <br />shall apply to any wood or wood product usually used or intended <br />to be used as firewood in the residence or any accessory structure. <br /> <br />SECTION 110.23 Conditions for Storage. <br /> <br />Wood stored or kept in the City which is not contained within a <br />coverage enclosure impervious to the elements shall be stored or <br />kept in neat and secure stacks no more than five (5) feet in height <br />as measured from the ground surface; provided, however, that no <br />wood shall be stacked within the required area of setback from a <br />public street right-of-way. <br /> <br />SECTION 110.24 Existing Woodpiles. <br /> <br />Any woodpile in existence as of August 1, 1984, which does not comply <br />with the provisions of this Chapter must be removed or placed in <br />compliance with the terms of this Chapter within one (1) year after <br />written notice to comply is given by the Zoning Officer. Such notice <br />shall be in writing and shall be served upon the property owner either <br />in person or bv certified mail. <br /> <br /> <br />
