Ramsey residents continue to enjoy a
high quality of life.
Most residents felt positively about the overall quality of life in
Ramsey and the City as a place to live. About 8 in 10 respondents
positively rated their neighborhoods as a place to live and Ramsey
as a place to raise children. Additionally, most residents reported
that they plan on remaining in the City for the next 5 years and
said they would recommend living in Ramsey. These ratings are
similar to, or higher than, ratings from the City’s 2014 survey.

Ramsey was rated higher than the national average in the areas of
affordable quality housing, its residents not being under housing
cost stress, and the number of residents who recycle at home.

Ramsey’s Economy is an important focus area
for the community.
About half of the respondents rated Ramsey favorably for its
overall economic health, as a place to work, and the cost of living.

Rated less favorably were: the quality of its businesses and
services, the vibrancy of its downtown/commercial area, its

desirability as a place to visit, and the availability of shopping

opportunities. Compared to 2014, nearly all Economy ratings
remained stable; however, the ratings for Ramsey as a place to
work increased from 2014 to 2016.

Residents feel safe in Ramsey.
Respondents felt that Safety was an important facet of the
community and a priority for the City. At least 9 in 10 residents
reported having an overall high sense of safety, feeling safe in
their neighborhoods, as well as in the downtown/commercial
areas of Ramsey. The vast majority had not been the victim of a
crime or had not reported a crime in the 12 months prior to the
survey. Residents gave positive ratings to Ramsey’s safety
services, particularly police and fire services, crime prevention,

and fire prevention services.
Substantial and valuable feedback was provided by Ramsey
residents through this survey. This information will be utilized by
elected officials as a tool for improvement to the City’s operations
and organizational direction. Survey results will provide a base of
information to help guide the City Council’s strategic planning
process, budgeting process, various policy discussions, and much
more.

Moving forward, the City intends to complete one resident survey
every two years. Once the City completes three surveys, trending
analysis of citizen feedback will be available.

For more information, please visit
www.cityoframsey.com/performancemeasurements or contact
Patrick Brama at 763-433-9868, pbrama@cityoframsey.com.

12Ramsey Resident November/December 2016
The results and content featured in this article were provided by
TM
The National Research Center (NRC), National Citizen Survey (NCS) .
