I

! Hakanson Anderson AssOCiates, Inc.

,I
I

engineers and surveyors
222 Monroe Street
Anoka, Minnesota 55303 612/427-5860
September 20, 1984

I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

Mr. Lloyd Schnelle, City Admin.
City of Ramsey
15153 Nowthen Boulevard
Ramsey, MN 55303

Re:

Final Pay Estimate
Central Park Irrigation System and Well

Dear Lloyd:

Attached please find copies of the final pay estimates for the above
referenced projects.

The total cost on the well contract was $27,168.75 compared with the bid
amount of $30,200.00 and the total cost on the irrigation system was
$29,322.00 compared to the bid amount of $26,600.00. The increase in the
irrigation system was due to the addition of nine sprinkler heads.

As you are aware, both contracts were not completed within the time
period specified in the contract documents. The well contract was
delayed because the contractor did not order the electrical equipment in
time to meet the deadline as stated in the attached North Star Drilling,
Inc. letter of August 13, 1984. The well was ~ssentially complete on
July 19, 1984. Therefore, in accordance with the contract documents, the
City could assess liquidated damages for 31 days at $200 per day.

The completion date on the irrigation contract was July 31, 1984. The
final hookup and inspection on the well was not made until August 3,
1984. Therefore, it was not possible to complete the irrigation system
until water was available. The irrigation system was substantially
complete on September 7, 1984. However, we have not made the final
acceptance of the system. We are hoping that the final adjustments will
be made prior to the September 25, 1984 council meeting so we can
recommend final acceptance and payment.

I
I

In review of liquidated damages with the park board, they recommend
assessing some damages due to the need for reseeding the park. We have
discussed this with'Mr. Merle Mevissen and he stated that reseeding would
have been required even if water had been available.

I

I

civil · municipal · planning · soils · land surveying
