Councihnember Kurak asked how long it will take to get the fire fighters up to speed with their <br />training. <br /> <br />Human Resources Manager Reed replied the fire fighters have a one year probationary period <br />and will not be on their own until that point in time. They receive $12.50 per hour during <br />training. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson explained first year fire fighters have a red dot on their <br />hehnets. When they are on a fire scene they play a little more of a supporting role. They also go <br />through additional training at the technical college that is paid for by the City. <br /> <br />Motion by Councihnember Pearson, seconded by Councilmember Kurak, to recommend that the <br />City Council authorize the appointments of Bradley Jorgensen, Michelle Dvorak, Brett Eenhuis, <br />Klm Suchy, Andrew Dubois, Chad Mulheron, Derek Dodds and Jeff Erickson to the positions of <br />paid, on-call fire fighters on the schedule proposed above and contingent upon satisfactory <br />physical examinations and drug screens. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Cook, and Councilmembers Pearson and Kurak. <br />Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #3: Consider Ending the Probationary Period for a Patrol Officer <br /> <br />Hulnan Resources Manager Reed reviewed that Ryan Law assumed the position for Patrol <br />Officer on May 20, 2003, and his one-year probationary period ended on May 20, 2004. His <br />performance has been reviewed by the Police Sergeants and has been documented as satisfactory. <br />Based on a satisfactory one-year appraisal, staff is recommending Mr. Law be retained as a <br />regular full-time patrol officer. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Kurak, seconded by Councilmember Pearson, to recommend that the <br />City Council adopt a resolution ending the probationary period for Patrol Officer Ryan Law and <br />granting him status as a regular full-time employee effective May 20, 2004. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Cook, and Councilmembers Kurak and Pearson. <br />Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #4: <br /> <br />Accept Resignation of Accounting Clerk and Authorize Staff to Begin the <br />Recruitment Process for an Accounting Clerk <br /> <br />Human Resources Manager Reed reviewed that on June 17, 2004, Ms. Jennie Loeffler resigned <br />fi'om her position as Accounting Clerk effective July 9, 2004. Staff is recommending that Ms. <br />Loeffler's resignation be accepted. Staff further recommends that the City Council grant <br />authorization to begin the recruitment process to hire an Accounting Clerk. <br /> <br />Personnel Committee/June 22, 2004 <br /> Page 3 of 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
