CASE # <br /> <br />REPORT FROM PUBLIC WORKS <br />By: Public Works Staff <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The Public Works Committee met on Tuesday, June 22, 2004 and discussed the following nine <br />cases: <br /> <br />Case #1 <br /> <br />Update on Potassium Street Drainage Concerns <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski stated at the October 21, 2003 Public Works Committee meeting the <br />residents of 14660 and 14680 Potassium Street expressed concern about the water levels on the <br />small wetland located on the adjacent Village of Sunfish Lake subdivision. While most of this <br />wetland is located within the adjacent subdivision, a small portion of it is located within their <br />backyards and is protected by a drainage and utility easement <br /> <br />The Public Works Committee recommended that the water tables be reviewed again in June and <br />July of this year. The purpose of this case is to comply with that directive. <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski indicated staff has visited the backyard at 14680 Potassium Street on <br />three occasions and found the following information: <br /> <br />· May 10th - The area occupied by wetland vegetation was dry but spongy. <br /> <br />· June 1 ~t _ Following the heavy precipitation received though the Memorial Day weekend, <br /> standing water was observed in the area which has wetland vegetation. <br /> <br />· June 7th- Standing water was observed in the area which has wetland vegetation. <br /> <br />Motion to recommend that the City Council postpone a determination on the properties at 14680, <br />14660, 14640 Potassium Street and 6001 146th Avenue until June of 2005, with regular <br />monitoring after a rain event and consideration of how much impervious surface is in the area. <br /> <br />Action: <br /> <br />Ratify the recommendation of the Public Works Committee <br /> <br />Case #2 <br /> <br />Consider Change Order to Glen Rehbein Companies for Sunwood Drive <br />NW, Rhinestone Street NW Improvement Project #03-29 <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />Assistant Public Works Director Olson reviewed that this project was authorized for construction <br />of MSA Streets in Ramsey Town Center. The work includes extension of trunk sanitary through <br />the Ramsey Town Center Project. The sanitary sewer pipe to be installed is 30". The pipe was <br />connected to the existing system on the west side of Ramsey Boulevard at 143rd Avenue. The <br />existing line is 27". This was known and it was planned that the line would need to be changed <br /> <br /> <br />
