AT ANOKA CITY HALL <br />COUNCIL ROOM. <br /> <br />,I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> <br />Members Present: Joe Anderla, Gene Gardner, A1 Springer, A1 Zahn, Joe Ridge, <br /> Henry Hammer and Bob Hornsby <br /> <br />Members Absent: Tom Fischer, Len McLaughlin <br /> <br />Staff Present: Butch Brandenburg <br /> <br />Guests: Fritz Anderson, Community Schools <br /> Dennis Morawczynski, Booster Club <br /> Pat Collier, Minnesota Coursing Association <br /> Steve Askew, Lincoln School PTA <br /> Chairman Anderla called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. Mr. Gardner <br />moved to approve the March 13, 1984 Park and Recreation Advisory Board minutes. <br />Mr. Springer seconded, motion passed. <br /> <br /> Mr. Brandenburg told the Park Board members that the Anoka Lion's Club <br />will be dedicating the bathrooms at George Green Park on Friday, May 4, 6:30 <br />p.m. They will be having a steak fry and the tickets are $6.00 per person. <br />Each person must bring their own utensils. The City will pay for the tickets <br />for any members of the City Council and Park Board and their spouses. <br /> <br /> Mr. Dennis Morawczynski was at the meeting representing the Parent's Com- <br />mittee for the Booster Club. Mr. Morawczynski said he wanted to raise money <br />for the football team by getting them involved in some type of community service <br />project. Mr. Brandenburg stated that on May 12 he plans to use 50 of these stu- <br />dents to do various jobs in the parks and prepare the cemeteries for Memorial <br />Day. These students will be supervised by five full time staff members. Prior <br />to this, the students will be collecting pledges for their work to raise money <br />for the Booster Club. The Park Board agreed this is a good idea and are happy <br />to see the City of Anoka working together with these boys to provide this service. <br />The City of Anoka Parks and Recreation Advisory Council supports the Anoka Foot- <br />ball Team Booster Club in their efforts to produce funds by means of a community <br />service work day scheduled on May 12 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the City of <br />Anoka Parks and Recreation Department. An example of work performance will be <br />30 members working in the Forest Hills and Oakwood Cemeteries, 10 members will <br />be transplanting trees and refurbishing the nursery and 10 members will be going <br />to major parks where active youth activities are taking place and picking up <br />glass and debris. The City of Anoka is not responsible for any financial sup- <br />port but only providing the public service opportunity. We greatly appreciate <br />the thoughtfulness of the Anoka Booster Club and welcome the opportunity to work <br />hand in hand in bettering our life environment. Mr. Brandenburg said he would <br />try to get something put on the marquee at City Hall to help support this project. <br /> <br /> <br />
