He asked if the Park Board wanted to proceed with the development of bikeways.
Mr. Brandenburg said he is still working with Rum River Lumber on acquisition of
the spur and perhaps it would be wise to wait until this is finalized before we pro-
ceed with the application of the bikeway. It was the concensus of the Park Board
that the City does not proceed with the application this year. Mr. Ridge said we
should proceed with doing something with state land $o we aren't in this position
next year.

Mr. Brandenburg also gave an update on the expansion of the Anoka Seniors Drop-
In Center. Mr. Brandenburg said he is scheduled for an interview with the McKnight
Foundation Task Force on May 4 at 9:30 a.m. Mr. Brandenburg said if this applica-
tion is not successful perhaps we could see some budgetary action or capital improve
ments for this expansion.

Under other business, Mr. Gardner asked about the Rocket Slide at Rocket Park.
Mr. Brandenburg said the slide is being rebuilt and should be completed in about
two weeks.

The Park Board commented on the concept of pre-germinating and they thought it
sounded interesting. Mr. Brandenburg said this could be something that could help
our maintenance costs.

Mr. Anderla pointed out that some trees are down right next to the playground
area at Sunny Acres Park. Mr. Brandenburg said he would take care of this as soon
as possible.

Mr. Ridge made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:00 p.m. Mr. Gardner
seconded the motion, motion carried.

~'~ Dudz~k, Secre~ '
cc: City Council
Jerry Dulgar
Will Boutain
Fritz Anderson

Mark Lenz

Jh Brandenburg /~
Superintendent of Parks, //
Recreation and Maintenance v

Attachment - Position Statement drafted by Anoka Recreation
Advisory Council Sub-Committee
