Charter Commission February 9, 1984 Attachment I February 9, 1984 Mr. Gary Heitman Chairman Ramsey Charter Commission 16490 Uranium Street NW Ramsey, MN 55303 Dear Mr. Heitman: · I have just learned that the Ramse'y"CharterCommission will be, conducting the a public hearing on February 15, 1984 to inform people of the contents of the finalized charter. I am astounded that so little time is being made available to the citizens in regards to such an important issue. In checking, I found that the first notice of the public hearing will appear in the February llth issue of the Anoka County Union. This does not allow any time for review of this document. I urge you to cancel the public hearing and to set another hearing date giving the people of Ramsey at least 45 days to educate themselves on the document that has been prepared b~'~h~mmission. always prided myself taking part important happen:..in I have in issues that the governmental jur/sdictions in which I reside. However, I will not be able to participate in this public hearing because I will be out of town. If adequate notice had been given, I could have scheduled this trip another time. I reiterate, please reschedule this public meeting date and give the pe°ple 45 days notice. Make information available so that they have ample time to review it and react to it. I know you have always stated that you want citizen participation. If you conduct this public hearing on February 15, 1984, you will be denying the citizens of Ramsey the participation they deserve. I would like to have this letter included as part of the Charter Commission meeting minutes for your meetings of February 9th and 15th, 1984. Thank you for your consideration. ~mold Cox
